Composer, violinist and conductor of Bohemian origin. Worked in Germany. Served the electoral court at Mannheim as a concertmaster and director of famous chamber orchestra the most respected one in Europe at that time.
Considered the founder of Mannheim School of Composers, who often used clarinet in their orchestral works.
The first to introduce clarinet in orchestra. Beside other composers, the members of the school were also his sons Johan Anton and Karl Philipp.
Laid the foundations of classical symphony.
Wrote a beautiful Concert for Clarinet and Orchestra in B flat major.
