Bartók is the greatest Hungarian composer. He began collecting and studying folk music of his own and neighbouring countries. His creative work is imbued with folk elements treated in modern and original way. Left his native country due to his democratic ideas in 1940 and went to America. Composed concertos, quartets and piano works.
Composed a trio Contrasts for Violin, Clarinet and Piano.
